Jackson County Monthly

October 2026 Issue No. 1 Founding issue

Jefferson · Commerce · Braselton · Hoschton · Pendergrass · Nicholson · Arcade · Talmo · Maysville

Hello, and welcome to the first issue.

Jackson County Monthly is a small, independent local publication. Once a month we read the county's public calendars — the cities, the county, three school systems, the libraries, the ag facility, the elections office — pull out what actually changes a resident's week, and put it in one place with a link back to the original.

We do not report the news and we do not editorialize. We summarize what public sources have already published, and we link to them so you can check us. If a date could not be confirmed against a primary source, it is not in here.

This first issue is digital only. There is nothing to buy, nothing sponsored, and no advertising in it.

If we get something wrong, tell us. We will fix it in the next issue and say that we did.

Project Orchid

Jefferson industrial park · $200 million plant · chose San Antonio instead

The chamber says it would have paid about $1 million a year in local property taxes. The site now generates $28,900.

For the record: city officials said the widely shared 6-million-gallons-a-day water figure was wrong — the filing should have read per month — and that the project was a metal manufacturing plant, not a data center.

Two taps

Tell us two things

Two taps, that's it. Answers are counted by issue, not tied to you personally. This is how we decide which kinds of local business to invite into the paper — it is not a request to contact you, and it does not sign you up for texts or calls.

Question one

Heading into the holidays, which one are you most likely to hire?
